Cycling: The first event of three in today's Omnium, the 4km individual pursuit, is now underway. Britain's Ed Clancy races in Heat 8 against Glenn O'Shea of Australia. Heat 1 has just finished so Clancy won't be on the track for around 20 minutes.

For those of you, who like me, have suffered years of sporting agony thanks to the Australians, here's a comforting stat:

Australia have one gold medal so far at these Games. The last time they had fewer was in 1976 (0). In 1980 they left Moscow with 2 golds.

Cycling: Three heats down and four to go until Ed Clancy races in about 15-20 minutes time. The current leader in this event, the 4km Individual Pursuit is Juan Esteban Arango Carvajal.

Cycling: It's Ed Clancy time. He's up against Glenn O'Shea right now. Clancy is currently fourth overall but will be looking to post a good time in this event, which he favours, and move up the rankings.

Cycling: 1000m gone and it looks like Ed Clancy is heading for one of the top times today. Australia's Glenn O'Shea is also having quite a good ride, less than a second behind Clancy.

Cycling: Clancy currently the second fastest overall at the halfway mark in this 4km pursuit and this is the point in the race where he will look to really push on.

Cycling: Clancy is really motoring now as he gets the bell for the final lap but slightly disappointingly he can only finish second, behind Lasse Hansen of Denmark. Glenn O'Shea had a great ride and is currently third.

Athletics: The women's marathon is underway with the competitors making their way through a rather drizzly central London. Paula Radcliffe's withdrawal through injury means that British medal hopes are very slim.

Cycling: All the riders have now completed the 4km individual pursuit and Ed Clancy finished in 2nd place. He is currently in the Silver medal position with two events remaining.
