London 2012 Olympics: Day 5

Follow all the action, news and events from the London Olympics

Day 5 turned into Medal Wednesday for Team GB with a rush of medals including two golds. Team GB finished the day in 11th place in the Medals Table.

Rowing The day began with Helen Glover and Heather Stanning winning Team GB's first gold of London 2012 in the women's pair rowing event. They become the first women to win gold for Team GB in rowing. Team GB’s men's eight won a bronze medal in their final.

Cycling: Bradley Wiggins won gold and Chris Froome took bronze as Team GB dominated the men's time trial. Wiggins has now won more medals than any other British Olympian.

Swimming: Team GB's Michael Jamieson won a silver medal.

Team GB's footballers through after bearing Uruguay at the Millennium Stadium. They will now play South Korea in the quarter final.

Badminton: Eight players expelled from London 2012 following a match-throwing investigation.

Cycling: Emma Pooley finished sixth in the women’s time trial.

Tennis: Andy Murray beat Marcos Baghdatis to go through to quarter finals
