Despite Mark Cavendish’s failure to deliver at odds on in the road race, the support for team mate Bradley Wiggins in the time trial has steadily grown. Wiggins was 7/2 to win Olympic Gold before the start of his triumphant Tour de France. Upon becoming the first ever Brit to win the tour, he was cut to as short as Evens and on the eve of the race Wiggins is now a best priced 8/15 to win. -

From Infostrada SportsKirstin Armstrong (USA) has become the oldest (38 years and 356 days) gold medallist in road cycling. The record belonged to Alexandr Vinokurov (KAZ) who was 38 years and 316 days old when he won the men’s road race last Saturday.

Cycling: Bradley Wiggins could not help Mark Cavendish to glory in last Saturday's road race but is still riding the crest of a wave following last month's Tour de France victory and will be among the favourites for gold on the streets of Surrey this afternoon. Chris Froome and the Irishmen Daniel Martin and David McCann also take part, along with the road race winner Alexandre Vinokourov. Froome is up first at 15:00 with Wiggins is at 15:07. -

Canoe Slalom: GB's Richard Hounslow is out of his kayak semi-final after being pushed out of the top ten by Spain's Samuel Hernanz. Hounslow's Olympics are not completely over however as he will return with David Florence, for the canoe double semi-finals on Thursday. -
