Freya Murray was today given the go-ahead to take the Marathon place given up by injured Paula Radcliffe. The British Olympic Association confirmed the 28-year-old Scottish athlete had been approved as a late call-up by the International Olympic Committee and athletics' world governing body the IAAF.

Weightlifting: Despite her disappointment at failing to lift 93kg, Zoe Smith is well placed after the snatch. She is currently fourth, although some way behind Maria Escobar Guerrero of Ecuador who lifted an enormous 103kgs.

Equestrian: Good news from Greenwich Park where Nicola Wilson has posted a clear round for Team GB. She is currently second although only nine of the 74 riders have competed so far.

Weightlifting: Anguish for the Philippines' Hidliyn Diaz who can't manage a lift after three attempts. Here comes Zoe Smith and she's attempting a British record. Great clean and she nearly manages to hold the jerk but just can't quite manage. She will have one more attempt.
