Modern Pentathlon: Samantha Murray, 22 from Preston, who is taking part in the modern pentathlon at 6pm, has the nickname Olive - seemingly because her friends think she looks like the character from Popeye!

Modern Pentathlon: The other GB woman competing the modern pentathlon this evening is Mhairi Spence - or 'Fencey Spencey' as she's known. She graduated from Bath University with a degre in coach education and sport developmkent.

Modern Pentathlon: Action is under way in the combined event in the modern pentathlon. They must run to the shooting range, hit five targets in 70 seconds, then complete a 1,000m run - three times over!
